Back at the helm

I’ve taken a break from blogging due to my crazy schedule. But, things are clearing up, and my training schedule is beginning, so HERE I AM!!

A quick update as to what is going on. Jeff and I have been running 2-3 times a week, and just maintaining an easy schedule. Things have been going well, although I have to admit that my longest run is only 4.5 miles. I feel like I have a LONG way to go. But, exciting things are happening.

Jeff and I have decided to sign up for Team in Training (TNT) together! Tomorrow, we’ll be heading into the cities to the kick of party for TNT. I think I’m more excited right now than nervous, but I’m sure that’s going to change. Doing it together makes us both nervous that we can reach the fund raising minimum, but we can do 3 times as much together that we can do apart, so with a lot of prayer, we will get it done.

As the marathon ramps up, my dancing days are winding down. We have just finished up recital weekend, and the dance center I teach at will be closing its doors. God’s timing is perfect, and as sad as I am about that, I’m equally excited to see what he has planned for me next.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season of every activity under heaven

Oreo Challenge

The package of Oreo Cookies says that a servings size is 2. TWO?! THAT’S IT??!! So, I tried it…I ate just two.

Mmmmm

Can you hear that? They’re calling my name! 2 cookies is RIDICULOUS! Who can eat just two? Well, I’m gonna. I can do it. I know I can.

Can you? Go ahead, buy a package and then see if you can open them, eat just two, and then put them back in the pantry until tomorrow.

What do they put in those things?! Crack?!!!! geesh.

[I wonder if I can hear them from my bedroom]

Myths About Whole Grains and Vegetarianism

Myths About Whole Grains and Vegetarianism.

This was a really informative article on the world of whole grains, and being a vegetarian. I am not a vegetarian, but I have cut out red meat from my diet, and I want to continually learn to eat better. There are SO many theories out there, that I refuse to get worked up about something without showing me the proof.

I read an article recently from Readers Digest about carbs, sugar, and how fat in produced in our bodies. Then, after reading this, is just goes right along with the research in the previous article. I like it when the dots start to come together. So, I thought I’d share.

Excuses

I’m getting over being sick.
My son is sick.
I’m short on sleep.
I’ve got SO much to do!
I haven’t ran in a week, and don’t want to start over.
blah blah blas
There are plenty more where those came from. But, I got out there anyway today. A short 2 mile run, and the weather wast great.

I’m glad I did it.

I Heart TNT

2008 Morse Park Triathlon

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program is an amazing program, and surprisingly not well known to those outside the sporting world. It’s a program to help anyone (even the least athletic person) train for an event that will amaze them. The coaches work with you every step of the way during your training for a marathon, half marathon, triathlon, hike, or walk. They’re amazing, and if you’ve ever wanted to try something new, with great coaching, while raising money for the fight against cancer, I would recommend TNT (Team in Training) hands down.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training (TNT) is the world’s leading sports charity training program. TNT’s dynamic, hands-on training program enables participants to realize their dream of completing a marathon, half marathon, triathlon, century ride or hike adventure.

For two years we have worked with these wonderful people, and we’re considering year #3 this summer.
